Wine Spectator 93 Points
This is powerfully rendered, with a still taut and compact yet racy core of linzer torte, black licorice snap, fig sauce and cassis notes that all drive through the long finish, where hints of juniper, roasted alder wood and smoldering tobacco lurk. Well-embedded acidity holds it all together as well, with impressive range and depth. It seems the Cazes family has stepped it up here. Best from 2013 through 2023. 2,500 cases made.

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 90-92 Points
Deep ruby. Musky aromas of red berries, cherry skin and smoked meat, plus a strong hint of violet. A spicy, sweet and chewy wine, marked by palate-staining dark fruit flavors that pick up a hint of black cardamom with air. Finishes sappy and long, with a late touch of licorice. This looks like it will be an ager.
-Josh Raynolds Mar/Apr 11
Winemaker Notes
In 2006 the domain was purchased by Jean-Michel Cazes Chateau Lynch-Bages Pauillac in Bordeaux. The owner 1992-2006 Pascal Roux was also the owner of Chateau du Trignon in Gigondas. When Pascal Roux bought the domain from the Raynaud family he bought only 27 of the 42 ha belonging to the property at that time. That's the reason why there is lots of space in the cellars. Bernard Tranchecoste has since 1998 been responsible for the mangement of the domain - also the winemaking.
Only one cuv?e of red and white Chateauneuf du Pape are made. Bernard Tranchecoste hopes to keep it that way. Then he feels he is able to make a good basis cuv?e.
-Owner: Jean-Michel Cazes
-Manager: Bernard Tranchecoste
Wine Specs
*90% Grenache, 5% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre and other varieties.
*Aged for 12-15 months in barriques - used before at Chateau Lynch-Bages.
